Olive oil has been valued for thousands of years. In ancient Athens, winners at the Panathenaic Games received decorated jars filled with oil from sacred olive groves, a practical treasure bestowed as an honor.
For us, this association gives a bottle of olive oil particular meaning at the holidays. It’s a way to thank a host, welcome someone to a new home or wish a friend many good meals ahead. Its pleasure is in everyday use, whether poured over warm beans, whisked into a dressing or set on the table with bread to share.
