A conversation with Sue Conley & Kate Arding
Tuesday, September 15
6–8pm
In 1997, Sue Conley and Peggy Smith opened Cowgirl Creamery in a renovated hay barn in Point Reyes Station, igniting a new era for American artisan cheese.
Their vision extended far beyond the creamery. Cowgirl celebrated organic milk, championed America’s emerging farmstead cheesemakers and connected the pleasures of a great cheese counter to the health of local farms and landscapes.
As Cowgirl was taking shape, Sue and Peggy invited Kate Arding to move from London to California. Fresh from Neal’s Yard Dairy, Kate brought a deep knowledge of farmhouse cheese and became instrumental in building Cowgirl’s retail and wholesale businesses.
Join Kate and Sue for an evening of stories from Cowgirl’s pioneering early years and a conversation about friendship, flavor, farmland and the movement they helped build.
Tickets are $20 and include cheese, focaccia, and wine.
